Required Documents List

What papers do you need for the 2026 Survey? Check here.

You don't need to panic! For the Caste Census, you mainly need Proof of Identity and Proof of Address. Here is the detailed list:

1. Aadhaar Card Mandatory

Why needed? This is the most important document. It serves as your main ID and Address proof. Every family member should typically have this.

2. Active Mobile Number Mandatory

Why needed? If you are doing Self-Enumeration (Online), you will need an OTP sent to your mobile. For offline visits, the officer might ask for a contact number.

3. Ration Card Recommended

Why needed? This is the best proof for "Family Relation". It shows who is the Head of Family and names of all members naturally.

4. Voter ID Card Optional

Why needed? Useful for all adult members (18+) as an alternative ID proof if Aadhaar has issues.

5. Caste Certificate Only for Verification

Why needed? While you can *declare* your caste verbally, having a certificate helps if there is any confusion about your specific sub-caste or category (OBC/SC/ST).

What if I don't have documents?

Don't worry! The goal of the Census is to count everyone. If you are missing some papers:
